Uniqueness
Saturday, 4 July 2009.
I find it hard to believe that with all the computer graphics code I've done over the last twelve years, I've never done any experimentation with pure, mathematical fractals. This was obviously a problem, so I made you this something out of these other things.
The longer you wait, the prettier it will be. (Also, it will probably burn your CPU, so don’t expect to be doing much else while you're on this page.)
Each and every snowflake is different: no two are the same. However, since this one is defined by an equation, it isn’t unique. There is a cute subtlety, though: by not being unique, it is unique amongst snowflakes.
- Source code is available here.
- Wolfram Alpha is awesome.
