Lonely Pink Elephants
Hi, I'm Jason LaPorte.
Some people might say I have too many hobbies: I conjure computer programs, draw pictures, write stories, think about esoteric subjects, and play games. In my spare time, I am the Lead Systems Administrator for Agora Games.
This website is a loose collection of the myriad things I create as a result of those interests. It’s my hope that you might find something refreshing here.
(I have brief musings that are out of place here on Twitter.)

Literature
I have reformatted a number of freely available texts on the web, so that they are much more attractive to read (or read when printed).
- Ender’s Game (the short story, not the novel).
- The Last Question.
- Nightfall (the short story, not the novel).
- The Old Man and the Sea.
- The Rime of the Ancient Mariner.
- The Tao Te Ching.
- Treasure Island.
About
Being a bit of a typography nerd, I've designed this site so as to be as readable as possible, given the constraints of the web. It is typeset in 10pt Palatino, an exceptional font crafted by master hands that is easy on the eyes both in print and on screen, and is available on virtually all platforms.
Since parts of the site, the “Literature” section in particular, are best viewed offline, attention has been paid to making the site look attractive on paper as well. If you do prefer to print pages, I suggest enabling background images and disabling page headers and footers.
The site is written using Markdown, John Gruber’s elegantly-designed text markup language. In fact, every page on the site has a Markdown counterpart: if you prefer to view any page on this site in its original plain text, simply replace the “html” at the end of the URL bar with an “mkd.”
The site is published via a simple shell script and SFTP, the specifics of which are available here for the curious.
