Blind Man’s Star

A blind man walked a private path in his private nighttime, but tripped over an unseen obstacle. He recovered to his feet, and, looking up, saw a single star shining brightly in the sky above.
He marvelled at it.
After a moment, it twinkled out again, returning him to darkness. He continued on his way.
(Update Friday, 28 November 2008: I have rewritten this piece as nanofiction—a short short story composed of exactly fifty-five words. I think doing so actually made it more effective.)
